Do You Still Qualify?

{2 minutes to read}  When it comes to life insurance, disability insurance, and long-term care insurance, my experience tells me that most consumers are not aware that they have to qualify. That means that you can’t always buy these products, even if you have the money and you want to.

Every day our health changes and people can develop illnesses, diseases, etc. Because of this, they become uninsurable, or if they don’t become uninsurable, their changes in health may mean they no longer qualify for the best rates.

Too many times, I have had people tell me that they think they are just going to wait…

  • For a couple of months
  • Until something happens
  • Until they retire
  • Until their baby is born

People actually wait to apply for the insurance they know they need – and know they have to get!

It’s an unfortunate scenario, but somebody I know very well decided that they were going to wait. And as they waited, their health changed.

Unlike investments, mutual funds, contributions to a 401(k), your pension plan, your brokerage account, or your bank account, you have to qualify for life insurance, disability insurance, and long-term care insurance. And the best time to apply is today because you’re never going to be any younger, and you’re usually not going to be any healthier. I share this so that people can understand the importance of their insurability and take action when they need to.

If you are thinking about buying permanent life insurance, a good way to protect your insurability is to buy good, quality term life insurance that has a conversion privilege.

Don’t wait, because tomorrow you might not qualify. Give us a call so we can help you with any of your insurance planning work regarding life insurance, disability, and long-term care.
